'Fox & Friends' co-host Brian Kilmeade defends border detention camps: 'We're not throwing them in cages'
Brian Kilmeade, co-host of Fox & Friends, lashed out at congress members who criticized conditions at border detention facilities.
Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez slammed the use of cages to house children at the centers at a recent press conference. “Right now, the president is committing human rights abuses at the border, keeping children in cages, and having human beings drinking out of toilets,” said Omar.
Ocasio-Cortez added, “He can’t look all Americans in the face and justify why this country is throwing them in cages.” Kilmeade disagreed, and defended the facilities. “We’re not throwing them in cages. Why does she keep saying that?” he asked.
Kilmeade placed blame for the practice on former president Barack Obama, noting, “We know the original setup was president Obama’s in 2011. Does she think we don’t understand that?”
Viewers on Twitter were split, with many taking issue with Kilmeade’s apparent defense of the detention facilities, and took President Trump to task for not doing more to improve conditions:
Look at the people at the border. That should be your top priority. Get those people out of cages!

He's using the Presidency as a personal weapon against individuals & corporations for perceived slights.
He has instituted concentration camps on our Southern border.
He has broken the law. His staff has broken the law. His campaign has broken the law.#ImpeachmentInquiryNow pic.twitter.com/BeDr9KxfDT

How many people have died already in the camps on the southern border? What is he doing about it? NOTHING!
I think that’s much worse than wishing someone dead.

Others felt Kilmeade’s support of the facilities isn’t an issue, and that it’s actually Democrats who aren’t doing enough to ensure border security:
TO AOC & Her Democrat Party Fraud-Squad: Instead of vying with your fraud-squad members for the role of prima-donna, WHY don't you quit w/your political theater and actually work to get something of substance done regarding the border????@foxandfriends https://t.co/Bcxnky5IrD

@FoxNews @foxandfriends @TuckerCarlson
It’s amazing how people from the Democratic Party Leadership & Fake News can jump on & tag-team our Pres. Trump
BUT THEY CAN’T BE HONEST & THEY WON’T SOLVE THE BORDER PROBLEM ON PURPOSE! WE ARE WATCHING! We have your back @realDonaldTrump https://t.co/uHURjTYqcM
