Four Brand-New Pokémon Were Just Revealed

The Pokémon Company just held its big Pokémon Presents, filled with a bunch of new reveals and plenty of exciting stuff. Among the reveals was new information for the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, and there’s a lot to break down there.

It was also revealed that there are two new Pokémon anime projects set to be released next month, and that Pokémon Trading Card Game and Stadium 2 were headed to the Nintendo Switch today.

Right now though, we want to focus on the brand-new Pokémon revealed in the trailers. Four new Pokémon were revealed, two of which are evolutions of prior Pokémon, and two were Paradox Pokémon — Pokémon from the past or future brought to the region of Paldea through time travel.

Here’s everything we know about the four new Pokémon revealed during the Pokémon Presents.

Dipplin

Dipplin is a new evolution for Applin, and it seems to be based on a candy apple. Like Applin’s other two evolutions, Flapple and Appletun, Dipplin is a Grass/Dragon-type Pokémon. Unlike those two though, Dipplin doesn’t have access to the signature ability Ripen, instead having a new ability called Sweet Honey. We don’t know what that does yet, nor do we know how Dipplin evolves.

Archaludon

Archaludon is an evolved form of Duraludon, a Pokémon that definitely didn’t need an evolution but is getting one anyway. It’s modeled after a suspension bridge which… cool. Honestly, it looks pretty goofy, but it’s got the wonderful Steel/Dragon typing of its predecessor, and both Stamina and Sturdy, which are both pretty good. We’d guess it probably has Stalwart as a hidden ability, but it’s hard to say for sure right now.

Raging Bolt

Raging Bolt is a Paradox Pokémon from the past, and is an ancient version of Raikou. We actually got one part of the trio, Walking Wake, which was based on Suicune, earlier this year, and Raging Bolt is the second puzzle piece. We haven’t seen the third one, presumably based on Entei, but we imagine that’ll be revealed in due time. It’s probably an Electric-type, given its name and design, but we can’t know for sure.

Iron Crown

The other half of the equation for Paradox Pokémon is Iron Crown, a version of Cobalion from the distant future. Like Raging Bolt, we saw its counterpart earlier this year in the future version of Virizion, Iron Leaves. We don’t know Iron Crown’s type either, but it will probably have a Steel typing, given Iron Leaves kept its Grass type.

The first wave of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Teal Mask, will be released on the Nintendo Switch on September 13, 2023.
