'Found' Premiere: How Long Has Sir Been in the Basement?

It's a funky season for fall TV, with loads of network shows—Law & Order: SVU, Chicago Fire, Grey's Anatomy—delayed due to the writers' strike (which only just ended after five months) and the ongoing actors' strike. If there's a bright spot on the scripted lineup, however, it's NBC's new series Found, which was locked and loaded long before Hollywood shut down and has the potential to fill the Olivia Benson-sized hole in our hearts.

The procedural stars Shameless alum Shanola Hampton as Gabi Mosely, the head of a crisis management firm that works to find missing people, particularly missing people who get short shrift from law enforcement. "While you keep prioritizing the missing, high-profile blonde girls of the world, my team and I will gladly continue to pick up the slack for the rest," Mosely tells the police chief at a press conference in the series premiere, which aired Oct. 3.

But Found isn't just a missing-person-of-the-week drama—it has a twist. Mosely was herself the victim of a kidnapping, and it turns out she has the man who kidnapped her (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) chained up in her basement.

The premiere raised loads of questions, not the least of which was how Gosselaar's character, Sir, hasn't aged at all in the 20 years since he abducted Gabi. But setting that aside, here's what we were left wondering after the first episode.

7 questions the new NBC show ‘Found’ needs to answer

1. How was Gabi kidnapped?

We know that Gabi was taken from her family, but how? We'd rather not imagine all the terrifying scenarios that could have led to her abduction, but one does wonder if the series plans to show that scene in flashback. Was she at home? On vacation? In her room? Outside?

2. How long has Sir been in the basement and how did he get there?

Gabi is tough, but it's hard to imagine her getting a 6-foot-something psychopath into her basement without, you know, drugging him or something. How did she pull off the abduction? And, wait, how (and when!) did she track down Sir in the first place?

3. Does the team know that 'Lacey' is Bella?

We find out at towards end of the series premiere that "Lacey," the new intern at Mosely & Associates, is actually a grown-up Bella, the young girl who Gabi helped rescue after Sir brought her into his lair. But does Gabi's team know Lacey's secret? And why did Lacey change her name?

4. Will Margaret ever find her son?

Margaret has spent so much time observing people at the bus stop where her son was abducted 13 years ago that she now has a very Poker-Face-esque "non-superpower superpower" to read people's facial expressions and body language. But will her expertise ever lead her to her son?

5. How did Zeke become agoraphobic?

Like everyone on Mosely's team, Zeke has a kidnapping experience of his own, and it's presumably what led him to become agoraphobic. But what exactly happened to him? And what's the deal with his family? Dahn reveals that they "bankroll" Mosely's firm. Is it possible they once hired Mosely to find their son?

6. What's Dahn's full backstory?

Dahn is Mosely's muscle (or as Lacey calls him, "G.I. Joe"). But he has a tender side, too, as we see in the scene where he talks Camilla's mom off the ledge. He tells her that he was once "abandoned and betrayed by people who were supposed to look out for me." So what happened? Could it be related to time in the service, as opposed to a childhood trauma?

7. Will Detective Mark Trent discover Gabi's secret?

Trent and Gabi once "scratched an itch" together, but it seems like Trent would like to scratch that itch again. If he showed up to her house unannounced once—just when she was about to bring a tray of food to Sir—could he show up unannounced again, and this time discover our leading lady's secret?
