I Found a $729 Leather Sofa That Looks Way More Expensive Than It Is — and It Has an Ingenious Feature That Keeps It from Sagging

As someone who’s prone to stress out over shopping for furniture online, it may or may not come as a surprise that one of my favorite activities as an AT editor is testing it out first-hand. Its helped me learn so much about my favorite furniture brands and which places are making high-quality pieces that I’d happily recommend to the next person. That being said, testing out a piece from Ashley was kind of a no-brainer. I remember going to Ashley with my parents to shop for new furniture, and while I can’t remember what they bought, I do remember it being one of the first stops. In fact, it was one of the few furniture stores close to our house at the time.
Fast-forward many years later, I got the opportunity to try out a selection from Ashley’s leather sofa collection, courtesy of the brand. Between its elegant design, modern feel, and its price tag, the Belziani Sofa stood out to me right away. Since it was beyond time to retire our old, saggy leather living room sofa, the chance to try something new couldn’t have come at a better time.

Design Features That Stand Out
One of the biggest benefits of the Belziani Sofa is its shape and size. At 74″ wide with a blocked design, this compact piece can fit into tight spaces, even against the wall. The tufted back cushions are attached to the frame and the seat cushions are removable, making the sofa easier to clean and move. Standing apart from sofas with spring cushions, the Belziani has a platform foundation that gives it both structure and strength.
Though it resists sinking and sagging, the sofa maintains a cozy feel with its 100% leather-wrapped cushions. Each sofa has a unique quality in the form of natural variations in the leather used to make it. Outside of the seat, back, and arm cushions, the remaining body of the sofa is covered with pigment-matched faux leather. The angled, low-profile feet have a faux wood finish that contrast the sofa in its Coconut shade and blend stylishly with the Storm option.
How It Performed
The Belziani Sofa arrived days ahead of the Super Bowl, which was great timing since we were hosting the party. My first impression was that it looked more compact than it actually is, when in reality, the sofa is roughly the same color and size as our last couch. It turns out going from three square cushions to two rectangular ones surprisingly makes a big difference in perspective! I’d been complaining for weeks about our old couch sinking and causing back discomfort, so I noticed immediately that the Belziani Sofa had great support for seating. The back cushions are plush and mostly firm, which also gives the sofa a luxurious coziness that seems like it will hold up nicely over time. If surviving a lively Super Bowl party is any indication of this sofa’s quality, I’d say we’re in for a bright future with it.
What I Loved
Block silhouette: Compared to our last sofa, which had rolled arms, I love the Belziani’s sleek and modern design. It makes it so much easier to conserve space and pair it neatly with end tables (still shopping for those!).
Platform foundation: I’m looking forward to seeing how this sofa holds up over time, but I felt an immediate difference when sitting down. I had back pain from sitting on our old couch, but the Belziani Sofa has amazing support without being too stiff.
Good to Know
The foundation of this sofa is firm and sturdy, which might take some getting used to if you’ve previously had couches you could sink into like a pillow.
