Foster Dog's Pure Contentment in the Safety of Rescue Dad's Arms Is Everything

For empathetic animal people like me, it can be so difficult to feel like I'm doing enough to help animals in need. Every heartbreaking commercial and TikTok video makes me want to adopt another pet, but adding four more paws into the house just isn't a possibility right now. Luckily, I know I can do many other things to make an animal's day.

Aside from donating to and volunteering at animal shelters, many people have considered helping shelter pets through fostering. This can be a great way to help a rescue animal adjust to living in a home where they'll be cared for and loved, and it makes room in shelters for additional animals. It's a win-win!

In case you need any more proof to see why fostering a pet is so rewarding, take a look at this sweet October 16 moment between foster dog Luc and his new, doting dad.

OMG! I don't think this could possibly get any sweeter. This foster family is helping Luc, whose name is short for Lucchese, feel right at home in New York City. He may be new to the area, but he feels as safe as can be in his rescue dad's arms.

It sure helps that he has fur brother @simonsits to show him the ropes, too! He's been the most welcoming sibling to all of his family's foster dogs, but commenters are wondering whether the grumpy-looking pup will become his forever brother.

"Sorry, but you have to adopt him. I don't make the rules," explained one viewer. They're certainly not the only ones who agree! The comment section is filled with folks who want Luc to stay with Simon and his loving parents, but this foster mom recently announced Luc's first adoption application. After he and a few other rescue dogs from NYC's Hearts and Bones Rescue were featured on The Dogist's Instagram page, it'll be no surprise if he's scooped up immediately! Thank you to his foster family for preparing him for his forever home.
