Since its official renewal for two additional seasons in early 2022, racing fans have been eager for more information on Netflix's popular docuseries Formula 1: Drive to Survive. Following its premiere in 2019, the series has debuted four complete seasons detailing behind-the-scenes details of the high-class international racing division.

Now, Netflix has revealed the first trailer of Drive to Survive's fifth season. Set to hit the streaming platform on February 24, the new 42-second teaser warns of significant changes in the sport and signals that "2022 represents a new dawn for Formula 1." Here we see large-scale rule changes introduced by Formula 1 take shape and how these have affected drivers and car manufacturers alike. Furthermore, major figureheads in the sport strive to survive on the race track, including Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, and Charles Leclerc.

In 2022, the Mercedes-Benz team replaced Valtteri Bottas with George Russell, while Alfa Tauri welcomed Guanyu Zhou, China's first-ever Formula 1 driver, on the grid.
