Former NFL Player Alex Collins Dead at 28

Alex Collins, a former NFL player who served as a running back for the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens during his career, passed away on Monday morning after a tragic motorcycle accident. He was 28 years old.
"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Alex Collins this morning," Collins' family said in an Aug. 14 statement, which they released through the Seahawks team.
"Alex was cherished by his family and friends as well as supporters from all around the world. All who truly know him can attest to his drive, determination, and larger-than-life personality," the statement said.
His family concluded, "We kindly request your thoughts and prayers for our family during this difficult time. We ask for privacy as we navigate through our grief. We will provide updates regarding funeral arrangements as they become available."
The NFL and Collins' two teams released statements following the news of his death.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said of Collins, "Alex was a joy to be around and someone whose light shined brightly. I'll always remember him for being a great teammate who had an uplifting spirit that impacted everyone he encountered."
Originally from Florida, Collins was a fifth-round selection in the 2016 NFL draft, joining the Seahawks. He played there for one season before moving to the Baltimore Ravens for two years. Collins resigned with the Seahawks in 2020 and played one last season there before ending his career with the NFL. This past spring, he also played for the Memphis Showboats of the USFL but was put on injured reserve in May.
