Former MLB Star Aubrey Huff Returns to X to Explain Feud With Influencer Who Posted His Fliratious DMs

After deleting his account earlier this week, former MLB player Aubrey Huff returned to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a statement regarding his exit. The 47-year-old former San Francisco Giant abruptly left the platform after influencer Isabella Maria DeLuca shared screenshots of flirtatious messages sent to her by Huff on Christmas Day.

“Hey beautiful, let's colab [sic] over cocktails and bad decisions,” Huff reportedly said to DeLuca. DeLuca then posted a screenshot of the message on X. “This you?” she asked, tagging Huff.

“This man has the audacity to insult me but is a married father of two DMing me on Christmas day,” DeLuca wrote. “I never responded—is that why I got unfollowed? Is that why you’re attacking me too? Because I didn’t want to make ‘bad decisions’ with you on Christmas morning?”

Huff was married to Barbara Heaton, with whom he shares two sons, from 2007 until their divorce in 2017.

After unfollowing DeLuca, Huff took to his own X account to rant against the influencer in since-deleted messages. “[Does] anyone else get the impression that [DeLuca] might not be all that stable?” he asked his followers. In a separate post, Huff said women such as DeLuca know “their sexuality is all they bring to the table” and asserted that “today’s women” possess “a desperate need for attention” as well as “crippling debt, drama, delusional self-worth, and a complete lack of accountability.”

Huff summarily deleted his account, leading to multiple accusations that he had gone into hiding due to embarrassment about the incident.

“Never was embarrassed,” Huff said upon his return Thursday night. “Was on vacation with my kids and didn’t need a distraction. I’m back now and kids are with their mom. My boys come way before anything on social media.”

In another message, Huff doubled down on this explanation. “I was on vacation with my kids. Knew it would distract me that kind of heat,” he explained. “So I waited till I got home and the boys went to their moms. So here I am. Imagine a guy more concerned about his kids than his social media credibility. The horror!!!”

“Was it even bad!?” Huff queried about an hour later. “So what, I struck out publicly. Something I did 907 times on a national stage during my 13 year @MLB career. If anything @IsabellaMDeLuca struck out with the bases loaded to end game seven of her World Series! Not to many get a shot at the title,” he concluded alongside a sunglasses-wearing emoji.

Around this time, DeLuca apparently blocked Huff on social media. “My how the tables have turned,” he wrote. “This was truly all in good fun for me. Too bad she didn’t see it that way. Some people just take things way too seriously. It’s really a shame people can’t have more fun on this platform.”

Later that evening, seemingly while watching the film Gran Turismo, Huff fired off another missive directed at “all you retards out there passing judgement” on his marital status without realizing he’s divorced. “It’s called Google. Famous people like myself aren’t hard to find,” he said. “If you figure out how to use the internet you’ll find I’ve been divorced for 6 years. Last I checked, there’s no crime for a single dude DMing a broad.”

As he mentioned, Huff played 13 seasons in the MLB and won two World Series championships during his time with the Giants. After retiring in 2014, he turned his attention to voicing political opinions on social media. He was suspended from X twice in 2021, for posting Covid-19 misinformation and again for making remarks about the January 6 riot, according to The New York Post. The Athletic reported at the time that because of those “unacceptable posts,” Huff had been banned from the Giants 2020 reunion to mark a decade since their 2010 World Series win.
