Former Love Island star Kaz Crossley has opened up about her struggles with alopecia, sharing three powerful photos with her 1.1 million Instagram followers, implying the stress of her recent detention in a Dubai prison has had an impact on her hair loss.

Admitting the past few months have been a difficult time, the 28-year-old spoke candidly with fans, uploading pictures which reveal the bald spot on the top of her head. She admitted that after taking the selfies she “had a good cry”.

In the lengthy emotional caption, Kaz writes: “Sometimes you will have days where you don’t feel strong, and that’s okay - it’s so important to let it out! I think the mixture of realising I’m losing more hair, mixed with the fact I will be heading back to the UK (real life) hit me hard.”

Kaz bravely admitted that she has insecurities over her hair loss, and sent a heartfelt message to those who are in a similar position. “Anyone going through the same right now I reaaaally feel you!” she added. “The insecurity of people noticing it and the need to hide it, the worry if it’ll get worse and the constant reminder of such a difficult time every time I look in the mirror.

“Trust me I feel anyone else dealing with this and we will get through it together! Don’t let these thoughts take over for too long. We are too blessed to be stressed 😉 let it out and keep going. You’ve got this ❤️🩹”

Fans flocked to the comments to support Kaz, sending their love and best wishes.

One person said: “So proud of you sharing your story, still the most beautiful person ever❤️❤️❤️”. A second user commented: “Sending you love & light during this difficult time ! You're so brave & beautiful!”

Another wrote: “Love u so much angel ❤️ thank u for sharing and being so open.”One more fan said: “Still beautiful inside and out, our outward appearance doesn’t negate the light we shine ❤️”.

Her post has also created a space for others to tell their stories and find comfort in each other's experiences. Many users shared their alopecia journey, sharing remedies and words of wisdom. One person said: “You have no idea how much this post has helped me tonight, thank you for your strength & bravery❤️.”

It isn't the first time Kaz has spoken out about her battle with her hair as she admitted to noticing the signs of alopecia earlier this month.

According to the NHS, eight million women struggle with some form of hair loss or alopecia in the UK.
