The former punk pad of the Sex Pistols’s lead singer, Johnny Rotten, can be yours for $1.9 million (or £1.55 million).

Located in London’s West Chelsea neighborhood, Rotten, who was born John Lydon, lived here between 1978 and 1981 during the punk rock band’s heyday. The Sex Pistols may have only been a band for two-and-a-half years, but is one of the most culturally important bands in music history, having created the British punk movement. The 1970s was a raucous time in London, and Lydon surely entertained many famous guests in this three-floor residence on Gunter Grove. After the Sex Pistols broke up, Lydon went on to form the band Public Image Ltd, who went on to play for 14 years.

When the English musician lived here, he owned the entire Victorian-style building, which has since been converted into two residences. For sale is a three-bedroom apartment with a reception room, kitchen, dining room, and rooftop terrace overlooking the Chelsea neighborhood. The interiors have been modernly renovated since Lydon lived here with high ceilings, an open-plan reception and living room, and large windows.

The reception room also has a built-in fish tank walls of mirrors. The main level also houses a windowed formal dining room, modern kitchen with high-end appliances. The level above houses the primary bedroom, second bedroom, and the home’s only two bathrooms, while the top floor terrace level has the third bedroom and a 400-square-foot outdoor space.

“The property’s roof terrace offers great privacy in the heart of Chelsea—a unique feature in the neighborhood, as no other property in the area has the same,” says David Mendel, branch manager at John D. Wood and Co. “It is also believed to be the same space where Johnny Rotten entertained celebrity guests and gazed out over Chelsea while plotting the next revolution in music. This is a chance to own a piece of punk rock history. This property is not just a home; it’s a testament to the rebellious spirit of an era that forever changed music and culture.”

There is a blue plaque on the mantelpiece commemorating Lydon, and is the only evidence of the musician living here. However, all of the Chelsea neighborhood is steeped in legendary music history. The home is near the Vivienne Westwood store, where the Sex Pistols would hangout, and The Rolling Stones and David Bowie lived in the neighborhood.
