Former Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleader Krystal Anderson Dead at 40

The Kansas City Chiefs cheerleading family is mourning the loss of former squad member, Krystal "Krissy" Anderson, after she died at age 40.
On March 20, Anderson died following complications from sepsis after delivering a stillborn daughter, according to a GoFundMe campaign organized in her honor.
"Krissy sought out hospitalization during her 21st week of pregnancy, and despite the trauma of losing her baby girl, Charlotte, during childbirth, she fought on," the campaign's description reads.
Tragically Anderson developed sepsis, leading to organ failure and being placed on life support.
"Krissy underwent three surgeries, but the source of infection remained elusive," the description continued. "In the early hours of March 20, surrounded by her devoted family, sweet Krissy passed away."

On March 21, the Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleaders' Instagram account confirmed the news of her death while offering condolences.
"We are deeply saddened by the recent passing of CC alum Krystal," the message read. "Krissy cheered with us for over 100 games from 2006-2011 and 2013-2016."
The lengthy message continued: "We will miss her kind spirit, joyful energy, and her sparkle. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones. We will cherish every moment we had with her. At a later date, we will share how we will continue to honor her legacy ❤️💛."
According to Anderson's obituary, she worked as a software engineer at Oracle Health. She was awarded a patent for the development of software that assesses the risk of postpartum hemorrhaging.
"I feel lost,” Anderson's husband, Clayton, told Fox4 News Kansas City. “There’s a lot of people in this house and it feels empty."
As of writing, the GoFundMe campaign to help offset medical and funeral costs has raised more than $67,000, well surpassing its $25,000 goal.
