Premiere date for new 'Yellowstone' spinoff '1923' announced plus gorgeous new images.

There seems to be no stopping Taylor Sheridan. The multi-hyphenate writer, director, producer and actor created Paramount's breakout hit Yellowstone in 2018 and he hasn't slowed down since. The darling of Paramount, Sheridan recently extended his multi-year deal with Paramount through 2028 and now has nine (yes, nine!) series on the air or in the works!

One of the newest Yellowstone spinoffs is a prequel previously called 1932, but Paramount+ later announced that the title was changed to 1923. The new series previously planned to focus on Prohibition will now encompass the aftermath of World War I and beginning of Prohibition.

1923 follows 1883 which showed the Dutton ancestors make the dangerous and deadly trek to Montana.

Sheridan has not disappointed Paramount or Paramount+. Two of the shows he created for the old-school network's huge splash into the original streaming content arena, Mayor of Kingstown and Yellowstone prequel series 1883, are bonafide hits for the streamer that have been renewed and extended, respectively.

Here's everything we know about the new series 1923, including the premiere!

What is the Yellowstone prequel 1923 about?

The Yellowstone prequel previously titled 1932, now 1923, follows the Dutton family through another expansion period in U.S. history—the early 1920s and beyond. In the new series, we'll see the Dutton ancestors cope with drought, cattle theft, lawlessness, and the beginning of the Great Depression. Previously planned to focus on Prohibition, Sheridan may have run into a historical issue with that plot. Montana was the first state to repeal Prohibition in 1926 so that would have been a challenging storyline.

Will there be an 1883 season 2?

Executive producer David Glasser told The Hollywood Reporter that the Yellowstone prequel series 1923 "was always intended to be the second season" of 1883.

Who's in the 1923 cast?

In a landmark deal for streaming, Paramount+ revealed that Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford will star in 1923. More casting news was recently released as well as who they'll play in the series.

James Badge Dale (John Dutton Sr.)
