Jesse Palmer’s final rose just went out to girlfriend Emely Fardo. The former Bachelor and NFL player confirmed his engagement to his model girlfriend in an interview with the DailyMail on Monday, July 8.

“I’ve been so enamored, so in love with this woman and it only has grown. I’m head over heels for her,” he told his employer. The proposal coincided with another lavish and romantic gesture from Palmer: a pre-planned getaway to Paris that he conspired and crafted on his own.

“We had a week off of work so I booked tickets to Montreal and let her think we were staying 10 days at my home there,” the season 5 Bachelor recalled. “On Monday morning I surprised her and said ‘pack your bags, we’re going to the airport.’”

At the terminal, Fardo learned they were heading to Paris, which was adorably also their first destination together as a couple. After a few days of romance in the City of Love, Palmer booked a car service to take them to the region of Champagne.

While there—likely and hopefully after a few glasses of bubbly—Palmer then proposed to Fardo with a 3.5-carat oval-shaped diamond on a pave diamond band set in platinum. For the TV personality, the process was overwhelming at times.

“I was trying to find the right one she would like. I wanted to get the ring shape, setting and band right,” he said. “She said I knocked it out of the park.”

Speaking of knockouts, Palmer first met Fardo at a boxing class in New York City. “I saw her and thought she was beautiful. I didn’t meet her until later, she was coming in while I was leaving,” he said. “We ended up connecting and our first date was at Rumble two weeks later.”

Palmer, a former backup on the New York Giants team, had a twist of an ending to his season of The Bachelor too. He ended up giving his finalist, Jessica Bowlin, a one-way ticket to NYC over a proposal. “I am not ready to propose to you tonight,” he remarked at the time. “I think that we need more time to grow and learn about each other.”
