Fans will not only see a bunch of new residents walking the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in the next season of Grey’s Anatomy, but they’ll also see the return of a former attending.

Yup, that’s right. Kate Walsh (who played Dr. Addison Montgomery) is returning for Grey’s Anatomy season 19. The 54-year-old actress confirmed the news by responding to a fan comment in a newly shared video on her Instagram page.

The short video (which was originally posted on TikTok) shows a fan’s comment that says, “CONFIRM YOUR RETURN FOR SEASON 19 PLEASE AND THANK YOU, X.” Right on cue, Walsh turns the camera and reveals that she is on set filming the latest season. (Smoove move, Kate.)

The Grey’s Anatomy alum wrote in the caption, Does this answer ur question? 😏 Season 19 Baby. Here We Go. 🩺💃 #GreysAnatomy #AddisonMontgomery.”

Variety exclusively reported Walsh will make a special appearance in the third episode of the new season. Walsh portrayed the certified OB/GYN doctor for three seasons before she left the show to star in the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff series, Private Practice

The Emily in Paris actress previously made a small cameo in season 18, where she—spoiler alert!—returned to Grey Sloan to care for a patient. During that time, she mourned the death of her former husband Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) with his sister Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and former wife Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo).

This latest news comes after Pompeo revealed that she will appear in only eight episodes in season 19. And the reason why? The Grey’s Anatomy actress is stepping back from the show to star and executive produce the Hulu limited series Orphan, which is inspired by the 2009 horror flick.
