The Ashley Madison Affair on Hulu documents the infamous 2015 leak of the popular infidelity-driven dating website. Ashley Madison was first launched in 2001 as a dating website for people looking to cheat on their spouses. Its official slogan reads "Life is short. Have an Affair."

In 2015, the website was hacked and millions of personal details from users' profiles were exposed—including full names, addresses, and emails. Josh Duggar was among the most famous personalities associated with the leak, and reportedly spend nearly $1000 on Ashley Madison accounts, per Gawker.

Noel Biderman, the Ashley Madison CEO at the time of the 2015 data breach, was a self-described "infidelity expert." Here's everything to know about the businessman:

Who is Noel Biderman?

Noel Biderman, 52, is from Toronto, Canada, per Insider. Biderman started Ashley Madison, in 2001. Later, the website was acquired by Avid Life Media. The founder eventually took over the parent company as COO in 2007, and later as president in 2010, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to working at the infidelity website, he was a realtor and sports lawyer.

According to Insider, Biderman came up with Ashley Madison through working with his athlete clients. A large part of his work revolved around balancing his clients relationships with their wives and mistresses, inspiring him to create a dating website for cheaters.

Is he still Ashley Madison CEO?

Nope! Shortly after the data breach, Biderman stepped down from Avid Life Media entirely on August 28, 2015. Throughout August 2015, as more and more data from Ashley Madison leaked, Biderman refused all media requests, per Insider. His resignation was the first public statement the former CEO made regarding the leaks.

Biderman was especially exposed by the data breach. The first round of information leaked to the public mostly included information from Ashley Madison users. However, a later leak included many of Biderman's emails over several years, exposing affairs and a hypothetical plan he had to hack an Ashley Madison competitor's system.

One of the worst revelations from Biderman's emails was his investment in an idea for an app called What's Your Wife Worth? The app allowed users to attach dollar amounts to women's photos based on their attractiveness, per The Daily Dot.

Is he married?

It appears Biderman is still married to his wife Amanda. The couple got married in 2003, and have two children together, per The Sydney Morning Herald. While several of Biderman's illicit affairs were exposed in the Ashley Madison data breach, he used to claim he was entirely faithful to his wife.

"I believe monogamy is worth pursuing and that it's a worthwhile endeavor. However, I'm aware we're not engineered for monogamy and it's actually a minority of us that will be successful with it," he told Stuff New Zealand in 2014.

Where is he now?

It appears Biderman still lives in Toronto, Canada, per his LinkedIn profile. The infidelity expert moved into the cryptocurrency business professionally. He's currently balancing two different roles: the CEO of a company called Avenue Insights, and a strategic advisor at WonderFi.

The latter describes itself as a "modern wealth generation" company, and operates a crypto company that employed Biderman in 2022, Bitbuy.
