Former 'American Idol' Contestant Wyatt Pike Announces Career News to Fans After Show Exit

Wyatt Pike's career continues to soar despite leaving American Idol nearly a month ago.

In early April, host Ryan Seacrest shared that Wyatt had to drop out of the competition. Later on, ABC and the former contestant both confirmed that he left for "personal reasons."

Despite his abrupt departure, Wyatt surprised fans just days later with some big news. On April 26, the Utah native released a new song called "Diana" and shared a video of himself performing an acoustic version of it. The song is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, Sound Cloud and Youtube.

"I hope you enjoy it!" the singer wrote on Instagram alongside a video of himself performing.

Immediately, Wyatt's fans rushed to the comments section to compliment and congratulate the artist. "Well done sir," one fan wrote. "Everything about this is so beautiful," another noted. "Incredible," a different follower commented.

Despite several outlets reporting that Wyatt had released a song called "Friday Nights" this year, the artist confirmed to Good Housekeeping that "Diana" is actually the new song. "Friday Nights," by contrast, was released in 2020 on his EP called Brand New Boy.

"The confusion is likely because I posted a recent YouTube video of 'Friday Nights'," Wyatt told us, while referencing the below video, which was also posted to his Instagram.

The exciting news comes as the remaining top seven finalists continue to compete for a chance to be crowned the next winner. Those left in the competition are Grace Kinstler, Willie Spence, Arthur Gunn, Caleb Kennedy, Casey Bishop, Hunter Metts and Chayce Beckham.

Prior to his departure, judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie had nothing but nice things to say about Wyatt. While Luke declared that Wyatt was "going to do music" for the rest of his life, Katy reassured the artist that she believed in him. But it was Lionel who was really right when he told Wyatt that he was on his way "to something big." American Idol or not, the only way is up for this talented singer.
