Forget Amazon, I've found 5 Prime Day deals on fully-built bikes that are so much better

Amazon Prime Day is now in full force, with great deals to be had on the best headphones, cycling tech such as cycle computers, and clothing such as bib shorts and jerseys too .

But there is precious little when it comes to fully built bikes.

To be fair, this doesn't really come as a surprise - Amazon has never had a great line in selling complete bikes. On the other hand, there are plenty of summer sales now on at the biggest and most respected cycling retailers.

So I've been trawling across the web and have pulled out the five best bike deals which have caught my eye in the US and UK - let's jump in.

Top US deals

Cannondale Topstone 4: was $1,374.99 now $1,174.95 at Mike's bikes

Having just reviewed the Cannondale Topstone 4, we found it to be an excellent ride and versatile frameset. There are some compromises, though, to be found in the mechanical disc brakes, and it's not the speediest road going bike.

But if you're looking for an bike that can handle a variety of non-paved surfaces then you'll find this comfortable and fast option. But with an additional 15% off, you'll be hard pressed to find another frameset as good as this at a comparable price

Rondo Ruut ST2 : was $2,599.99 now $1,948.95 at Mike's Bikes

This is a tidy 25% discount on the Rondo Ruut ST2. The USP for the RUUT is the duel geo, with what the brand call its TWINTIP carbon fork, allowing the bike to flip between a speedier sporty bike, or riding in the slacker setting for multi-day gravel adventures.

We reviewed the full carbon Rondo Ruut CF2 2x version, and found lots of plus points, but could have been better spec'd - so this SRAM Apex 1 drivetrain and mechanical Rever MCX disc brakes feels a lot fairer at this price point. The components have even been chosen especially for their reputations for reliability and ease of maintenance.View Deal

Ridley Kanzo A Gravel Bike: was $2,054 now $847.99 at Wiggle

This is a cracking 59% off the Ridley Kanzo A adventure bike, which now comes in well under the $1,000 mark.

Equipped with SRAM Apex 1x 11 speed and mechanical disc brakes, it's temping to draw comparisons to the Rondo Ruut ST2. Although you do get an aluminium frame, this carbon forked bike doesn't quite have the same versatility due to no flipflop fork positioning.

The onboard mounting points for fenders or luggage makes it a great all day adventure option - although it looks like you might be limited to 40mm tyres.

Stock is showing as low, so don't hesitate too long if you are debating on a purchase, although worth remembering CRC has stock too (with all sizes currently showing as available).

Cannondale Treadwell EQ DLX Remixte: was $1,349.99 now $999.95 at Mike's Bikes

If you're looking for a practical commuter that won't break the bank, the Treadwell could be for you. The Treadwell features mudguard, and a front and rear rack as standard. Disc brakes will also ensure you can stop in all weather.View Deal

Cannondale Trail Balance: was $239.99 now $189.95

For any 'mini-shredders' there's currently 21% off Cannondale's Trail Balance bike - which comes with a pleasing amount of quintessentially Cannondale attention to detail.

There's a lil’ Lefty fork and even a 'Righty' chainstay - a feature which doesn't even grace the bikes of the pros, very cutting edge.

The frame is made from Cannondale's SmartForm C3 Alloy, which doesn't have quite as good a strength to weight ratio as the  SmartForm C1 Premium Alloy used on Cannondale's excellent CAAD13 aluminum race bike - although parents will be thankful that it's more cost-effective to produce. You can't spoil them, eh?View Deal

Below are Stefan's top three deals that are cheaper not-on-Amazon from yesterday - prices have been updated

Continental GP5000 Clincher Tire: was $87.95, now $47.45 at Jenson USA

Continental's GP5000 tires are one of the all time greats, combining high levels of grip with low levels of rolling resistance - as well as being competitively lightweight without completely sacrificing puncture resistance.

You can find our full Continental GP5000 review over here - and feel smug that you're getting a full 45% off the list price in both 25c and 28c widths. You'll see $44.49 flash up on Amazon but that's just for the 23c version, all the others are more expensive. View Deal

Hammerhead Karoo 2: was $399.00, now $259.00 at Competitive Cyclist

Okay, so this one isn't totally fair, as Karoo 2 bike computers aren't actually sold on Amazon - but that's Amazon's loss so I'm taking it anyway!

Hammerhead is still a relatively new player on bike computer scene, but its Karoo 2 is among the best currently on the market, with a particularly slick user-interface and a great touchscreen.

The smaller and touchscreen-lacking Garmin Edge 530 is currently discounted to $249.00 on Amazon - just $10.00 less than the Karoo 2...View Deal

High5 Energy Drink Powder 2.2kg: was $41.70 now $20.49 at Wiggle

Energy drink powders are quite a personal thing, but High5 (along with SiS when it's on a good discount) has long been one of my favorites. The price tends to be reasonable, I like the natural flavorings and lack of artificial colors, preservatives or sweeteners, and it doesn't make my mouth feel sticky or cloy-y like some other powders do.

Or at least the Citrus one doesn't - that's always my first choice with every energy powder. Plus it's the one with the greatest discount, at $20.49.

There are a lot of energy powders being sold on Amazon, but I didn't find anything that matched this deal from a brand I know.View Deal

Top UK deals

Orro Terra C Ekar: was £3,599.99 now £2,299 at Merlin Cycles

This huge 38% saving on the Orro Terra C Ekar is not to be sniffed at, as one of the few bikes to feature Campagnolo Ekar gravel specific groupset.

The carbon frameset and Ekar 1x hydraulic disc comes with 40t chainring and a 13speed cassette, with a healthy spread of 9-42t gears, making pretty much most terrains surmountable.

There appears to be a few retailers offering on the Orro Terra C Ekar at the moment, and this is one of the best with the most size options still available

Giant Revolt Advanced 2: Was £2,599 Now £1,949 at Tredz

The Giant Revolt Advanced Pro has just won Cycling Weekly's Gravel Bike of the Year award, and while this is a slightly different version, they will share a lot of DNA.

The £650 saving, which equates to a 25% saving is a great offer for the full carbon bike, which comes equipped with Shimano GRX 2x11 hydraulic groupset.

Another shapeshifter, as much like the Rondo Ruut, the Revolt Advanced comes with a flip chip, this time located in the read dropout. This shortens the bike turning it from a all or multi-day adventure bike to a more agile machine.

A quick price check shows the Giant Revolt Advanced 2 hard to come by, so this is the go to deal. View Deal

Ridley Kanzo A Apex1 Disc Gravel Bike (2022): was £1,799.99 now £799.99 on Wiggle

Gravel bikes are great fun for riders who want to leave all that traffic behind, and with a 56% discount, this is a great place to start. Gravel bikes are super versatile and the Kanzo is no different, with room for mm wide tyres as well as full mudguard mounts.

The Kanzo features a triple-butted hydroformed frame, Sram Apex 1x groupset, and Shimano Rs171 wheelset. With 38mm tyres out of the box, this bike will be great on local trails and fire roads.

Also on sale is the Kanzo C Carbon version of this bike which is also 50% off!

Cannondale CAAD Optimo 2 2023: was £1,150.00 now £799.00 at Sigma Sports

Cannondale has long been known as one of the experts in aluminum bike technology. The Optimo sits as the brand's entry-level race bike. This model features 10-speed tiagra shifting, and a lightweight carbon fork making, which coupled with race geometry, make it a great first race bike, especially with 31% off! The Optimo also features mudguard mounts for those looking for a winter steed!

Specialized Diverge E5 Brassy Yellow: was £1,300.00 now £1,050.00 at Rutland Cycling

Specialized's Diverge is an all-road bike, perfect for those looking to explore gravel riding, or those looking for a capable commuter bike. The E5 is specced with Claris shifting and also features mudguard and rack mounts. The mechanical disc brakes will keep you safe in all weather - and you certainly won't be missed with that yellow paint job!

Below are Stefan's top three deals that are cheaper not-on-Amazon from yesterday - prices have been updated

Garmin Edge 1030 Plus bike computer: was £519.99, now £299.99 at Wiggle

Over in the US, Amazon is giving a whopping 50% off the Garmin Edge 1030 Plus - but not so in the UK! We've had a hunt around the web and have come up with this 42% reduction from Wiggle to try and close the gap. It's a great head unit with a large touchscreen, you don't get the fanciest analytics of the latest iteration, but for mapping and data tracking it's as good as it's always been.View Deal

Vittoria Corsa G2.0 Clincher: was £70.00, now £39.00 at Sigma Sports

Vittoria's Corsa G2.0 tyres really need no introduction, being blisteringly fast and surprisingly robust. They are pretty readily available over on Amazon, but not close to being at the same discount. The best I could find is a 30c width for £48.48 - not bad, but Sigma has everything from 23c right up to 32c for £39.00 - it's not really a contest.View Deal

Garmin Rally Power Pedals at Sigma Sports

Sigma Sports has discounts across Garmin's power meter pedal range, whether you use Look or Shimano road cleats or two bolt SPDs - there's a pedal body for you.

As there's three pedal bodies and the option of single-sided or double sided, that's a total of six options to choose from.

I'll save myself (and you!) the exercise of copying out all the different discounts here - suffice to say they're all between 13% and 15% off, equating to savings of about £100. You can check out all six on Sigma over here.View Deal
