The 2021 trade show season is kicking off amid deep uncertainty around the globe, as a more-infectious strain of the coronavirus has sparked renewed lockdowns in the U.K. and elsewhere, and case numbers in the U.S. remain dangerously high.
However, the rollout of multiple vaccines against the COVID-19 virus is prompting glimmers of hope that life could begin to return to normal.

Amid those opposing variables, retail buyers and brands are pushing forward planning for the seasons to come, and trade show organizers have introduced a variety of methods to meet their needs, with both in-person and digital marketplaces.

OR’s digital winter event will kick off Jan. 6, with key Summit Days planned for Jan. 20-23 and ongoing engagement and education through March 19. The Summit Days will feature informative panels hosted by The Conservation Alliance, Camber Outdoors, WGSN, The NPD Group and more.

The trade event will feature both digital and in-person components. CMC Uploaded, from Jan. 6-8, will provide virtual line showings with select exhibitors via Zoom, while showrooms may open Jan. 10-13 for in-person visits via appointment only. Showrooms are expected to comply with local and federal government mandates related to COVID-19.

Following eight months of in-person trade events, the Dallas Market Center plans to continue to host brands and buyers at its January shows. However, the center recently new safety measures, including a 50% occupancy limit across the campus and no gatherings.
