As Valerie Bertinelli gets closer to the release of her next big project, she's taking the time to share why this new phase in life means so much to her.

Back in November 2023, the Food Network star announced her new cookbook, Indulge would be released in April 2024. At the time, Valerie shared that fans could start pre-ordering the work, but didn't delve much further into the inspiration behind her new collection of recipes. Well, in an Instagram video posted on February 24, she not only gave followers a first look at Indulge, but also revealed the emotional time in her life that led to the finished product.

"I’m so excited to share with all of you my new cookbook, Indulge 💜," she wrote alongside the clip. "I wrote Indulge in this last year or so of healing, while looking for and finding my true self. Doing my best to be intentional with my joy and luckily finding that I naturally hum at happy."

"I hope some of my essays will help you also find your joy, your purpose, and dare I say, help you 'indulge' in the life you deserve. 🥰," she added. "And not for nothing, there are a lot of super kick ass recipes in here!... Thank you so much for all of the kindness and support you’ve shown me. I couldn’t do any of this without you."

When fans caught wind of the Hot in Cleveland alum's heartfelt message about the intent behind Indulge, they rushed to share how much they loved her for being vulnerable about the journey.

"I could not appreciate you more. Your authenticity and kind intentions just emanate from you. Have a great day and hope the book is a huge success," one person declared on Instagram. "Thanks so much for being such a positive inspiration to all. ❤️," another wrote. "I'm sure your book will contribute to many other's joy!" a different follower added.

As fans may know, Indulge is the first book Valerie wrote since her 2022 divorce from ex-husband Tom Vitale. She also experienced a few career bumps in the last few months, including learning she wouldn't be returning to host a new season of Kids Baking Championship.

In spite of those hardships, Valerie says Indulge is her way of discovering joy again — especially when it comes to cooking.

"This cookbook marks the journey that I — and so many of us — have taken to get to this place where I no longer deny myself and instead indulge in the entire experience of cooking." she told People in November 2023. "Ultimately, my desire [is] to share what I make with those I love."
