There's no doubt about it: Having the ability to work from home is a great privilege, especially at a time like this, when staying home as much as possible and self-quarantining to prevent the spread of Covid-19 is of utmost importance. But working from home when you're not used to it can also be a bit of an adjustment—like if you work a desk job but don't actually have a desk or any sort of ergonomic set-up to use at home like you typically do at work.

Personally, I have chronic pain and I live in a tiny studio apartment without a proper work setup, let alone a place to sit and work all day comfortably. So, when I realized I would be working home for several weeks, the first thing I did was order a portable laptop desk. I knew I would most likely be working from my bed or a reading chair, so I wanted something that would prop my laptop up so it would sit at eye level, and so that I wouldn't have to keep my arms at a weird, uncomfortable angle as I type.

I did some digging online and found the AboveTEK Laptop Desk, which had just under 500 reviews and a 4.6 out (out of five) star rating. It was big enough to fit my 13" laptop with plenty of additional space to use a mouse or place my phone and planner, looked sleek, seemed super adjustable, and was under $50—so I bought it. When it arrived, it was easy to set up. It didn't require any assembly; I just read the instructions on how to adjust it, and went to work. I've been using it for a few days now, and it really has made working from home so much easier and more comfortable for me.

Here's what you need to know: The AboveTEK Laptop Desk features adjustable legs so you can move them to the height you need (between 9.5 and 13 inches), and the desk tilts for your comfort, too. On the left side, it has two pull-up tabs that you can use to keep your laptop from sliding down, which can easy adjust to the thickness of your computer. It's super lightweight (5.3 pounds) and the legs fold flat inwards so you can stow it away when you're not using it, which is important when you live in a small space like I do. It also features non-slip feet, so if you're putting the tray on a hard surface, like using it as a standing desk converter on a table or counter, it won't slide.

You can shop the AboveTEK Laptop Desk and other portable laptop trays on Amazon and at your go-to retailers like Target, Walmart, and more.
