Flowers for Mom? Local greenhouses offer plenty of Mother's Day gift ideas

For many families, Mother's Day weekend means it's time to buy flowers − and local greenhouses and nurseries are ready to make that happen.

On Wednesday, Susie Quinn, owner of Willo'dell Nursery, 1389 U.S. Route 42, Ashland, showed off her business's array of hanging baskets, garden plants, perennials, potted plants, peonies and more.

Many of the hanging baskets this year feature blossoms in patriotic combinations of red, white and bluish purple − but there's plenty of pink as well.

"It's our very busiest day," Quinn said of Mother's Day. "It's wonderful. We enjoy it so much because we get so many families and people buying things for mothers."
