Flourishing New York Ski Resort Unveils Expansion Plans for the 2025-26 Season

West Mountain in Queensbury, New York has experienced a remarkable revitalization in recent times, courtesy of Spencer and Sara Montgomery, the mountain's dedicated owners. Over the past decade, the Montgomerys have made substantial investments in enhancing West Mountain's offerings. They have upgraded the snowmaking capabilities, installed three state-of-the-art lifts, expanded and improved the trails, and renovated the lodge. Additionally, their commitment to fostering a thriving racing team has resulted in rapid growth, with the esteemed Olympian Thomas Vonn leading the team.

As the current offseason unfolds, the Montgomerys have exciting plans underway. These projects encompass acquiring a new snow groomer, implementing fresh carpeting in the main lodge, and expanding the mountain biking trails. While these developments are noteworthy, they merely foreshadow the grand endeavors that lie ahead.

The ski resort has announced its most significant capital upgrades ever, scheduled for 2025. The primary focus of these improvements involves incorporating a state-of-the-art high-speed chairlift manufactured by Doppelmayr. However, there is ongoing deliberation regarding whether a quad or a six-pack chairlift should be installed for this particular section. Presently, the area is served by a fixed-grip triple chairlift.

Additionally, plans are underway to construct a new hotel near the base terminal of the chairlift. The hotel, known as The Woods at West Mountain Ski & Stay Resort, is still shrouded in secrecy, with more information set to be disclosed in the upcoming months.
