Florals Were Trending at Emmy Awards 2023: Jenna Ortega in Christian Dior, Ali Wong in Louis Vuitton and More Stars Who Bloomed on the Red Carpet

Florals were one of the trends taking over the 2023 Emmy Awards red carpet in Los Angeles on Monday. Celebrities embraced the blooming aesthetic with floral embroideries, 3D rose details and bright prints from Louis Vuitton to Giorgio Armani Privé.

Here, WWD takes a closer look at some of the celebrities who made floral statements on the red carpet at the Emmys.

Katherine Heigl

Katherine Heigl resembled a rose in her custom Reem Acra gown that featured a sweetheart neckline and fabric folds along the bodice that was pinned to the side with a dazzling jewel. The strapless, floor-length dress was a subtle floral callout but dazzled against the red carpet with matching red lipstick and Rahaminov Diamonds jewelry.

Donald Glover

Donald Glover featured a Bode suit from the fall 2023 ready-to-wear collection that featured floral embroidery throughout the number. The matching suit adorned its three jacket pockets, two front-pant pockets and pant legs with pastel flowers blooming against the rich, dark velvet.

Meghann Fahy

Meghann Fahy matched the red carpet in a custom red Giorgio Armani Privé gown and dazzling Bulgari jewelry. The floor-length, strapless dress featured three-dimensional red roses along the straight neckline.

Anthony Anderson

Anthony Anderson walked the red carpet with a classic black-and-white suit and bowtie from the Italian fashion house Etro with a floral twist. Anderson’s blazer took center stage with large, red lilies embroidered along the sleeves and on the front of the piece, taking the traditional look into a modern direction.

Beatrice Grannó

Beatrice Grannó donned a Giorgio Armani Privé gown from the designer’s fall 2023 couture collection, pairing it with Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewelry. Her black dress sparkled on the Italian actress and included a very slim bodice made to look like three-dimensional roses adorning the strapless neckline. Grannó matched this red-rose detailing with red-painted nails to complete the look.

Jenna Ortega

Styled by Enrique Melendez, Jenna Ortega wore a Christian Dior haute couture floral gown on the red carpet. The light green, caged dress was covered in floral embellishments, reminiscent of flowers growing up alongside a garden trellis. The actress’ Dior jewelry, which included a matching necklace, ring and bracelet, also fit her flowery theme.

Simona Tabasco

Simona Tabasco wore an eye-catching Marni gown from the brand’s spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection with Cartier jewelry. The actress’ dress resembled pop art, featuring seemingly endless images of various flowers overlapping one another across the entire number.

Ali Wong

Ali Wong was styled by Tara Swennen in a Louis Vuitton gown and a Mae Cassidy bag that garnered attention for its bright floral skirt and glittering bodice. The comedian’s embellished silver bodice contrasted her blue skirt, which was covered in white, pink, red and green blossoms.

The Primetime Emmys, presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, honor excellence in the television industry. Comedian Anthony Anderson hosts the 75th annual ceremony, which is broadcast on Fox. Although the awards show typically takes place in September, the 2023 Emmys were postponed until January due to the concurrent Screen Actors and Writers Guild strikes.
