It’s onward and upwards for Kaley Cuoco in her acting career. But The Flight Attendant fans still have questions about a potential season 3.

On August 8, Deadline exclusively broke the news that The Big Bang Theory actress landed her next major project titled Based On A True Story. From The Boys executive producer Craig Rosenberg and Ozark star/executive producer Jason Bateman, the dark comedic thriller will premiere on Peacock and follow a married woman named Ava Bartlett. Though additional details are currently under wraps, the 8 Simple Rules alum quickly confirmed she will be portraying the leading lady.

“True Story ✔️ Couldn’t be more excited or grateful,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a screenshot of the Deadline article. “Thanks to my epic team and everyone involved who made this happen 💫.”

Reacting to Kaley’s latest career news, fans immediately rushed over to her Instagram comments section with celebratory messages. “Congratulations 🔥 look forward to seeing it,” one person wrote. “Girl, you're on fire! Congrats 😍🔥❤️,” another added. “So proud of you!!!” a different fan said.

On the other hand, many folks couldn’t help but feel concerned about what this would mean for the future of The Flight Attendant. Although there hasn’t been official word about new episodes for the hit HBO Max drama, viewers have kept their fingers crossed since season 2 ended back in May.

“Does this mean no flight attendant season three?” a follower commented. “Wait..what happened to The [Flight] Attendant? @kaleycuoco,” someone else said. “Happy for you and your new project, but, I miss Cassie... ✈️ 👏,” another admitted.

According to Deadline, Kaley signed a two-season deal for Based On a True Story but it will still allow her to return to The Flight Attendant “if the right premise comes along.” While it’s not clear if a season 3 renewal guarantees her return, it sounds like she’s open to reprising her role as Cassie. But for now, Kaley’s enjoying her exciting news and letting the HBO Max storyline unfold on its own.
