Fleur de Lis Arts Gallery to hold artist reception May 17

May 13—PUPOSKY — The Fleur de Lis Arts Gallery will hold an opening reception for exhibiting artist Chuck Clementson and a screening of "Revisor" on Friday, May 17, at the gallery, 24011 Highway 89 NW in Puposky.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a meet-the-artist event followed by an artist talk at 6 p.m. After Clementson's presentation, attendees can enjoy an appetizer reception and a viewing of the avant-garde modern dance movie "Revisor" on the big screen, a release said.

"Revisor" is based on the play, "The Government Inspector," by Nikolai Gogol. A critically acclaimed production that blends contemporary theater and dance, "Revisor" reunites Crystal Pite and Jonathon Young, creators of the internationally acclaimed "Betroffenheit."

Clementson's exhibit "Masks" is a display of found natural objects. His artwork was inspired by a mask-making class he attended, the release said.

"The class allowed faces in the 'Ancient Wood' to come into focus as if by magic," Clementson said in the release. "Embellished with stones and bones, these uniquely rustic mask sculptures bring forest spirits to life. They gently poke fun at humanity, hopefully bringing a smile of recognition to emotions hidden behind the mask."

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota, through a grant from the Region 2 Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, the release said.
