During the memorial service held for Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna at the Staples Center Monday, Jimmy Kimmel spoke about the legacy the Laker legend left beyond the court. “Everywhere you go, you see his face, his number,” Kimmel said. “Gigi’s face, Gigi’s number. Everywhere at every intersection. There are hundreds of murals painted by artists who are inspired, not because he is a basketball player but because Kobe was an artist too.” The New York Times wrote about how Los Angeles has mourned the loss of Kobe vociferously through murals, graffiti, and artwork. That artwork was again on display last night when Flea sat courtside for the Lakers' matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Flea wore an airbrushed shirt with a portrait of Kobe and the words "Rest in Peace." While stories like Kimmel’s or the one in the Times reference artwork made for sides of buildings, Kobe’s biggest fans have also knitted themselves together through clothes. YG wore Kobe's jersey to the Grammys , San Antonio Spur Demar DeRozan wore different versions of the kit with matching sweatsuits the week following the helicopter accident, Devin Booker wore a custom-made hoodie to All-Star weekend, and coaches wore different versions of the Black Mamba's sneakers in the aftermath. Flea is merely the latest person to pay tribute to Kobe with this Big Fit of the Day.
