Flameworking, glass blowing, and more to create beautiful art featured at Las Vegas expo

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Imagine taking a glass tube and forming it into an exquisite work of art. Handblown glass is one of the forms of glass art featured at an expo in Las Vegas and classes are being offered.

Glass artist Andrew Pollack is one of the artists featured at the annual Glass, Craft, and Bead Expo at the South Point Hotel and Casino. It’s billed as the largest expo of its kind in the country.

“There’s so many classes and cool things to see … beautiful artwork all glass related,” Pollack said. “We get to immerse ourselves in glass, art, and learning for the week.

The artists come from around the world, specializing in stained, fused, mosaics, coldworking, bead making, marble making, glass blowing, glass sculpture, and much more. New to the show this year are demonstrations of glass clay, bead mosaics, wire wrapping, and decorative stencil soldering on zinc.

The art expo will feature more than 370 classes taught by professional artists. The expo will also feature more than 100 exhibits. Also, several artists will perform live demonstrations in flame working and other glass art techniques.

Classes begin on Wednesday, April 3. The art exposition begins on Thursday, April 4. Classes and show floors will run through Sunday, April 7. Admission is $10 for Nevada residents. Tickets are good for all three days of the expo. For more information and to register, click here.
