It's an emotional time for Joanna Gaines. As any parent knows, each milestone their child reaches can bring out a range of feelings, but that might be even more true during the teenage years.

Joanna and husband Chip are parents to five children (Drake, Ella, Duke, Emmie Kay, and Crew) ranging from a high school senior to a preschooler. Joanna recently opened up about the emotions surrounding their son Drake's final year of high school, and now she has another milestone to face: daughter Ella's 16th birthday.

The Fixer Upper star posted a video of the house decorated for Ella's sweet 16, complete with flowers, balloons, and a banner. She wrote, "My sweet girl turns 16. I'm trying my darnedest not to cry like a big fat mama baby when she drives off by herself tomorrow."

Fans flooded the comments with supportive messages:

  • "You’re such a special mom! crying thinking about my daughter one day turning 16 wanting to just never let go but so excited to see where they are headed 💕 "

  • "It looks magical. Why do they have to grow up so fast! 🎉"

  • "It’s soooo hard mama!! The drive off is the worst, but pretty soon you’ll be asking her to run and grab milk and that’s pretty cool! 😂 🙌❤️"

  • "there’s just nothing, not a thing, that prepares the heart mama. Happiest of birthdays to your beautiful girl 🥳🔑🚘🎂"

Joanna certainly has her hands full these days. She and Chip just launched their latest TV series, Fixer Upper: The Castle, and her new memoir comes out in just a few weeks.

Joanna's memoir, The Stories We Tell, will be out November 8. She revealed on Instagram that the book's cover was designed by Ella. Joanna shared a sneak peek of the finished product and wrote, "I loved the whole process of bringing this book to life—but having my daughter, Ella, help design the cover was the very best part of it all. ❤️ #TheStoriesWeTell"

It sounds like talented Ella might be following in her mother's footsteps!
