Between tackling new renovation projects, wowing us with her style on The Tonight Show, and finishing her third cookbook, Joanna Gaines has a packed schedule to say the least. But the mom of five still finds time to enjoy the finer things in life, like sharing a windy hair moment with one of her teen daughters or getting her 4-year-old son, Crew, involved in the garden.

Turns out, he doesn't need a whole lot of nudging. Recently on Instagram, Joanna posted the sweetest pics of Crew in his happy place: the family garden.

"Crew is very happy to report that the wait is finally over and the daffodils, anemones, and tulips have all started to come up!" Joanna wrote. "He loves to 'pet and smell' them. We can't wait for the spring garden to be in full bloom."

In the post, the Gaineses' youngest is seen kneeling beside a raised garden bed of yellow daffodils with a gorgeous Texas sky in the background.

Fan comments poured in about the adorable moment, noting how fast Crew is growing up and praising his interest in gardening and nature:

  • "What a wonderful man he is going to be!!😊👍❤️❤️"

  • "His lil crocs! ❤️🌼🌸"

  • "That sweet Baby Boy is Growing UP! Glad he likes to 'pet and smell' the flowers 🥰🥰🥰😂"

  • "He is such a good helper!!"

  • "Gorgeous little boy... and that Texan sky😍🇦🇺"

  • "Wow he looks so big!! Glad he appreciates nature!❤️"

Another commenter cracked us up with a too-true observation: "You gotta love how kids can kneel bare-kneed on gravel. My grandson does stuff like this all the time and it hurts my bones just to see him do it! 😂"

Crew's older siblings, Drake, Duke, Ella Rose, and Emmie Kay, get involved in the garden too. Joanna wrote about her family's journey from beginner plant parents to happy gardeners—and all the trial and error in between—in her children's book, We Are the Gardeners. That book was published in 2019, which means that Crew, born in 2018, has always had the wonder of a garden at his fingertips.

Another reason the post caught fans' attention? How early those first spring flowers arrive in Waco, drawing comments such as "February in Texas!" and "Meanwhile, in New England… 🥶." Fans from Colorado, Idaho, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Minnesota (including another Magnolia Network star, Minneapolis-based Zoë François of Zoë Bakes) all weighed in that winter is still going strong in their states. At least we can live vicariously through Crew in the meantime.
