May 16—Looking for something to do with your family this weekend? Check out these activities around the Valley:

1. The Danville Kids Fishing Derby will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mahoning Creek, behind the Danville Middle School at 252 Northumberland St., Danville. Refreshment and bait are provided. The derby is open to kids aged 15 and younger and no registration is required. For more information, go to the Danville Fish Derby's page on Facebook.

2. Ready for an out of this world experience? Head to the Selinsgrove Intermediate School, 18th Street, Selinsgrove, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids will design, create, build and then launch a water-powered rocket using aerospace engineering skills taught to them by the people at Summit Early Learning. 3. Stretch your child's imagination! Students will create a big book where they will showcase how their world will be through their eyes at the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit, 90 Lawton Lane, Milton, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The students will have the opportunity to look for images or items that they will use to create a big book. The items are used as storytelling of how they see the world right now and how they would like their world to be in the future. Kids will share their story to group when it is finished. 4. Grab some popcorn and head to Watsontown Memorial Park at 8 p.m. Saturday for a free community screening of "Wonka" — the 2023 prequel exploring Willy Wonka's origin before he became the celebrated candy maker seen in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." 5. Get a little groovy at the Teen Star Musical Competition's 70s-themed finale at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Haas Center, Bloomsburg University, 400 E. Second St., Bloomsburg. Come dressed in your best 70s outfit for the costume contest as you cheer on local high school students competing to be Journey Bank's Teen Star. Tickets are $5 at any Journey Bank location prior to the competition and $7 at the door. All ticket proceeds are donated to the music departments of the finalists' high schools.
