Scott Cawthon, the creator of Five Nights at Freddy's, took to Reddit to share some experiences from the opening weekend of the movie based on his game.

Donning glasses and a beard, Cawthon shared that he sat in on multiple showings before divulging a few sweet stories from four different showings on the Thursday opener, as well as from Friday and Saturday screenings.

At a 2pm screening on Thursday, he said "not many people were there", but "a teenage boyfriend and girlfriend walked in; the girlfriend was dressed as Toy Chica, and they sat right next to me." Cawthon noted that the girl almost caught him out, saying to her boyfriend That kind of looks like Scott Cawthon", to which the boyfriend replied, "Dear, he's old."

Other stories included details of seeing super-fans dressing up, a screening that resulted in cheers and claps and being called "Dad" by some teenage boys.

He rounded off the post by saying, "Thanks everyone for making opening weekend such a big success. It was beyond my wildest dreams. I do read the comments and critiques, so while I'm glad most people had a great time at the movies, I'm definitely paying attention, and I wanted you all to know that."
