Five Cool Things I Found On Instagram This Week

A productive week spent discovering the coolest brands currently on IG.

There are some brands that inspire, not only with their products but their imagery and aesthetic as well. They make you consider the potential of swan diving headfirst into the brand's aesthetic and adopting everything about them. You question whether you could actually wear just one brand for the rest of your life and realize this is what leaning into an aesthetic means. This week in Instagram news, it felt like the platform was serving me a plethora of brands that have a strong brand identity, one that is so compelling you think about them long after you're off Instagram. I call them lifetime brands because they're ones that you'll stand beside and follow updates on for the rest of your life. You learn from them, whether it be sustainable practices, styling tips, or simply how the brand presents itself. There are a lot of them out there, but still, every time you find them it feels like you've discovered something really special.

In the name of exploration, I'm sharing my most treasured Instagram finds. They're the brands that caught my attention in a sea of pictures; the ones I felt compelled to share with my friends for discussion; and accounts that I thought about while I was brainstorming my next purchase. Ahead, the fruits of my Instagram labor! Enjoy.

1. Mars

IMHO the best, most important accessories are sunglasses and earrings. That's why Mars immediately caught my attention, the brand started out making sculptural lucite earrings and now uses those materials to make the dreamiest sunglasses. The party earrings are my favorite and remind me of something I admired my mom wearing when I was 10.

2. The Ime Label

This brand excels in embroidered clothing. We try to be careful about customizing our clothing, too much embroidery and things can go into the realm of monogrammed sorority vibes. But just the right amount, like The Ime Label does, and you'll have garments that feel special and precious to you.

3. With Jéan

Founded by two friends, the concept of the brand is clothing that is made to "perfectly match our peaches and jeans". A mission that resonates deeply with us lazy day denim dressers. Throw out your tees and swap in an equally comfortable, but fancy top. Once again proving our hypothesis that comfort and looking good are not mutually exclusive.

4. Georgia Jay

There's something in the air that makes everyone franticly obsessed with simple bags. Blame it on the 90s nostalgia movement or a resurgence for minimalism without losing personality (in this case sophisticated colors). These bags aren't like the others though, they're handmade in New Zealand with dead-stock fabrics.

5. Giu Giu

I'm a firm believer that good reliable knitwear is worth investing in. Giu Giu's designs are simple and easy to wear, but that doesn't make them any less inspiring. The brand stands by creating products "of a unique and mindful lifestyle bound by simplicity; a reflection conveying the playful humor and offbeat freedom that life should embody, with no limitation to age or gender." The colors are carefully selected and the knitwear, well you'll have to feel for yourself.
