New fitness court opens in north Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A new outdoor fitness court opened in Wichita on Friday, and it is free to use.

The court is at Pat Garcia Veterans Memorial Park, 2640 N. Wellington Place.

It was developed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, Wichita Park and Recreation and the National Fitness Campaign.

“This innovative addition not only promotes healthy living but also honors our veterans, creating a space where everyone can come together to thrive physically and emotionally,” Troy Houtman, Wichita Park & Recreation director, said.

“It’s here, and now there’s an opportunity for our young people and, as well as our seniors and everybody, community, to come get involved with this park,” Robert Chavez Jr., VFW, said.

According to the organizations, it was designed for people aged 14 and over and with all abilities in mind. The workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels and allow you to move at your own pace.

The court allows people to use their body weight to get a complete workout at seven stations. It was designed for people aged 14 and over and with all abilities in mind.

Users also may download the free Fitness Court App, which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket and enhances the outdoor gym.
