The first trailer for Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene is giving us The Devil Wears Prada vibes

The CW just dropped the full trailer for Katy Keene, the Riverdale spinoff starring Lucy Hale. In it, Hale plays the titular Katy Keene, an aspiring fashion designer who’s determined to make a name for herself in the cutthroat industry. The show, which is based on the Archie Comics character of the same name and will be set five years after the world of Riverdale, is essentially Sex and the City meets The Devil Wears Prada with a modern and inclusive spin. Needless to say, we’re very excited.

Unlike the previous teaser we got in May, the extended Katy Keene trailer also offers a close look at the show’s main characters and storylines. Set in New York City, the series also follows Katy’s close circle of friends: Broadway performer and drag queen Jorge/Ginger Lopez (Jonny Beauchamp), socialite It Girl Pepper Smith (Julia Chan), and singer/songwriter Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray, who’s reprising her Riverdale role) as they pursue their dreams together in the Big Apple.

According to the show’s logline, “Their world is populated with kindred-spirit starving artists, including mysterious socialite Pepper Smith and Broadway-bound performer Jorge Lopez—and his drag queen alter ego, Ginger. While their climb to the top is rife with obstacles, this found family will stop at nothing to see their names in lights.”

The new trailer also introduces Katy’s hunky boyfriend, an aspiring boxer named KO Kelly (Zane Holtz), and Alexander Cabot (Lucien Laviscount), a record label CEO who meets, signs, and falls in love with Josie.

In the trailer, we see Katy hustling in a very “Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs” personal shopper job. And let’s just say that Emily Blunt’s Emily would probably get along with Katy’s cutthroat coworker. There’s even a Miranda Priestly-esque, fashionable glasses moment.
