Here’s The First Trailer For Megaton Musashi: Wired

Megaton Musashi Wired mech

Megaton Musashi is a game that has quietly collected a pretty passionate fan base, despite not having released outside of Japan as of yet. The mech-focused action RPG from Level-5 was first released in Japan on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5 back in 2021, and to just about everyone’s surprise, was announced to be getting an enhanced release in the West this year.

Now, after months of anticipation, we finally have our first trailer for the game, called Megaton Musashi: Wired. The trailer shows off Level-5’s signature anime style, some slick mech gameplay, and a glimpse of the story set to feature in the game.

It looks like a pretty unique and fascinating action RPG, with fast-paced action combat, very in-depth mech building, and a skill tree that looks frankly absurd. Fans of mech games will definitely want to keep an eye on it going forward, although you probably shouldn’t expect anything along the lines of Armored Core 6 or Daemon X Machina — this looks to be a much more approachable kind of game.

The game comes as part of somewhat of a revival for Level-5, which seemed to be in dire straits in recent years. Following the slow implosion of the Yokai Watch series and years of delays for the next Inazuma Eleven game, the developer closed down its Western development and localisation studios and seemed to be on the way out.

It somehow managed to pull through though, and has announced a host of games – primarily for the Nintendo Switch – this year. It includes a revival of the Professor Layton series, a new Fantasy Life game, and even a brand-new IP called Decapolice, all of which will be localized and released in the west. Even the seemingly doomed Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road seems to be releasing this year.

No release date has been revealed for Megaton Musashi: Wired, but Level-5 says it should be released sometime this year.
