First Time Mama Goat's Instant Bond with Her New Babies Is So Beautiful

It's always beautiful when an animal gives birth, but it can also be nerve-wracking and stressful for the animal's human parent. Especially if the human parent suffered a devastating loss of one of their animals and its baby previously.

TikTok user @Offtherailspygmies posted a beautiful video of this miracle of life, and her Pygmy goat Gemmy is just the sweetest mom ever. Check out the following clip to see this adorable family.

The video description reads in part, "Thankfully, despite a scary breech birth, Gemmy was an exceptional mother. Other than weighing the kids each day and making sure they were eating, I didn’t have to do a thing. Momma had it all handled! I’m really hoping her sister embraces motherhood the same way but, as always, I’m here to help. Farming may not be for the weak and it may seem like there’s more heartbreak than joy at times…but moments like these make this life worth it."

The love this animal owner has for her goats and the heartbreak and worry she had since losing her goat Amy and Amy's baby is just so sad. We are so happy she is healing with the help of Gemmy.

Some TikTok users can relate to this, and @Kristin comments, "We are breeding our two girls in the fall. I’m so nervous. I think I’ll loose it if anything goes wrong. Wrong is all my farm seems to be." The video creator sweetly replies, "Keep your head up! I know it’s so hard, believe me. I’ve gone through a major loss myself. Best of luck with your girls!"

When goats have babies it is known as kidding. How easy the kidding goes can depend on various factors including the goat's overall health, genetics, age, and the conditions in which they are kept. Looks like Gemmy handled everything like a champ.

If you have a goat that is kidding and seems to be in distress, it's best to call your family veterinarian right away. According to Backyard Goats, toxemia and ketosis occurring in the last days of pregnancy can cause death if not corrected quickly. Hypocalcemia, (milk fever), mastitis, congested udder, and a prolapsed uterus are a few other conditions that can derail an otherwise normal goat pregnancy.

We are so thrilled to see adorable Gemmy and her adorable babies doing so well together. She's such a good mama!
