The First Theme Park in the Caribbean Announces Opening Date, Details on Rides
Katmandu's Punta Cana location will open next month.
The world’s first theme park in the Caribbean, Katmandu Park Punta Cana, will open on March 15, 2023, the park shared with Travel + Leisure this week.
Located in the Dominican Republic, the park features “cutting-edge, first-of-its-kind rides and attractions that immerse guests in the company’s original, proprietary franchise, 'The Hidden Realms of Katmandu,' read a press release that was shared with T+L.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to announce the opening date for Katmandu Park | Punta Cana, which seamlessly blends first-of-its-kind immersive entertainment and attractions with premium hospitality, for the ultimate escape,” Cecil D. Magpuri, CEO of Falcon’s Beyond said in the press release. ”We have structured ticketing in a way that offers fans the flexibility to explore the park however works best for their vacation, whether they want to visit once or return every day.”
Tickets are now on sale with three package types available to guests. Passes start at $120 per adult and $85 per child.

Katmandu Park will be connected to a luxury resort, Falcon’s Resort by Meliá All Suites Punta Cana, offering a fully immersive, “resortainment” experience.
The theme park will offer “unique, high-tech attractions'' that immerse guests into Katmandu’s original IP. Voyage of the Fathom Wanderer will be a first-of-its-kind suspended theater attraction where riders soar through an epic adventure, promising “an immersive experience unlike ones commonly found at other parks.”
Guests can explore the Katmandu origin story on Legend of the Desirata, a thrilling 4D dark ride. Challenge of the Mad Mage will be a 4D interactive theater attraction that reimagines the traditional experience guests may be accustomed to with advanced technology. EtherQuest, “a next-level interactive walk-through attraction,” will be “action-packed” as guests become the stars of their own adventure.
The property will also feature themed dining venues, carnival-style games, outdoor ropes course, indoor climbing courses, and Expedition Golf, a 36-hole mini golf course situated on mountains and inside caves. The park’s centerpiece, the Wheel of Infinite Wonder, will be a themed carousel with figures inspired by the characters from The Hidden Realms.
The park was developed by Falcon’s Beyond, a leading fully integrated global entertainment development company specializing in IP creation and expansion. Park guests will also have access to the company's BeyondME via a smart wristband.
“Guests can customize their own BeyondME persona, personalize their avatar, earn and spend experience points as virtual currency called XP, and level up their status for additional benefits.” The complimentary fan loyalty and online game platform seamlessly blends their real-life park experiences with digital experiences, like mobile games and online shopping.
Katmandu Park Punta Cana is part of a growing trend in the theme park industry known as ‘micro-parks.’ Examples include the newly opened Peppa Pig Theme Park in Florida and the upcoming Universal Studios park in Texas.
Future Katmandu Parks are expected to open in Tenerife, Canary Islands, and Mexico. The original park is located in Mallorca, Spain.
