The First Teaser for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Oprah Interview Is Here, and It's Intense

Next Sunday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's big 90-minute Oprah interview special will air, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will speak candidly for the first time since stepping back from their senior royal family roles about what happened. CBS released the first teaser from the interview tonight, and it makes one point abundantly clear: This is going to truly be a candid discussion about the couple's private struggles.

Meghan sits with Oprah first, dressed in a stylish black dress. Oprah asks her at one point, "Were you silent or were you silenced? I just want to make it clear to everybody. There is no subject that’s off limits."

Oprah also says in the 30-second clip, "'Almost unsurvivable'? Sounds like there was a breaking point," then later teases, "You’ve said some pretty shocking things here." While nothing Meghan said was revealed, one comment from Harry was, presumably about why they stepped back from their roles. "My biggest concern was history repeating itself," he said, alluding to his late mother Princess Diana.

A friend of the couple told ELLE.com earlier that one year after the Duke and Duchess decided to step back from their working royal family roles, they don't question the choice. They have "no regrets about stepping back," the friend of the couple said. "The change from what we’ve seen from January last year is remarkable. They feel settled. They feel excited about what’s to come."

Meghan and Harry are expected to formally launch their new non-profit Archewell in the coming months. Meghan is also, of course, expecting her second child with Harry currently, something that will be addressed in her Oprah interview next week.

The segment will air on CBS next Sunday.
