First Snow of the 2024 Season at Thredbo

Just under two months from opening weekend, the first snow of the Southern Hemisphere winter arrived at Australian resort, Thredbo, yesterday.

Glazing the gum trees and eliciting plenty of excitement, the big and fluffy flakes blanketed the mountain from top to bottom.

Thredbo opens for the season on Saturday, June 8th and from then on will be a humming hot spot for powder runs and park laps (as dictated by storm cycles). Located just a half hour from Jindabyne, the resort is a favorite of Northern Hemi riders who come down to get their legs under them during the off season.

Thredbo also boasts Australia's only halfpipe, a 13-foot minipipe, as well as a boardercross track. It's a good time to plan a summer vacation. Flights to Canberra from LAX are hovering around $1000 during July and August right now. Just sayin'.
