The First Official Look at Dove Cameron, Chloe Bennet, and Yana Perrault as the CW’s Powerpuff Girls Is Here

The CW’s adult Powerpuff Girls series, Powerpuff, began shooting its pilot episode earlier this month. But the network is already offering an official first look at its twenty-something Powerpuff Girls—and their costumes are very different from the traditional cartoon-inspired looks captured in set photos last week.

Dove Cameron (Bubbles), Chloe Bennet (Blossom), and Yana Perrault (Butterfly) appear as the titular characters of the CW show dressed in casual clothes. Cameron wears a blue crop top and pants; Bennet is in a magenta blazer, plum t-shirt, and jeans; and Perrault is in a black top, jeans, and green leather jacket. The network also released official descriptions for each character, similar to what Variety reported before.

Per E!, the descriptions read:

  • Blossom: “Though she was a spunky, conscientious, Little-Miss-Perfect child who holds several advanced degrees, Blossom’s repressed kiddie-superhero trauma has left her feeling anxious and reclusive, and she aims to become a leader again—this time on her own terms.”

  • Bubbles: “Bubbles’ sweet-girl disposition won America’s hearts as a child. She still sparkles as an adult, but her charming exterior belies an unexpected toughness and wit. She’s initially more interested in recapturing her fame than saving the world, but she just might surprise us and herself.”

  • Buttercup: “Buttercup was the rebellious badass of The Powerpuff Girls in its heyday. More sensitive than her tough exterior suggests, Buttercup has spent her adulthood trying to shed her Powerpuff Girl identity and live an anonymous life.”

At this point, Powerpuff just has a pilot order. It’s unclear whether the CW will pick it up to series. Other stars of the show include Scrubs alum Donald Faison as Professor Utonium, Nicholas Podany as Mojo Jojo, Robyn Lively as Sarah Bellum, and Tom Kenny as the narrator (he also narrated the original and 2016 cartoon series).
