Surfing video games are dead.

Or so it seemed. There once was a heyday for the genre, like, in the early 2000s, with iconic titles like Kelly Slater’s Pro Surfer, Transworld Surf, and Sunny Garcia Surfing – games with archaic graphics, unrealistic surfing, and waves that looked nothing like they do in real-life; yet the games were beloved by surfers of the time.

And now, there’s a new surfing game on the block: Barton Lynch’s Pro Surfer.

In the clip above, we get one of the first official looks at footage of the game, which drops on November 17th for Xbox, PS5, and PC.

And it looks…kinda cool?

As we previously reported, per worthplaying.com:

“Barton Lynch Pro Surfing is a true to life sports game that pits you against the world’s best surfers in the most exotic locations around the world. The expansive world tour features an in-depth leaderboard and sports commentary, or if you prefer to free surf, simply cruise around the vast beaches at your leisure.

“Cutting edge graphics meets hardcore physics and beautifully brutal waves. Pump control uses the wave’s power so you can surf faster and unlock more moves. More speed = more moves! Pump, smash that lip, get sooo barreled and launch airs from waves that barrel, peak, break left and right, or just foam crumble.

“Customize your own character to your liking or play as some of today’s top pros, including: Yago Dora, Clay Marzo, Nathan Florence, Soli Bailey, Mahina Maeda, Vahine Fierro, Felicity Palmateer, and of course the legendary world champion, coach and Pro Surfing commentator Barton Lynch.”

Barton Lynch Pro Surfing won’t be the only new surf video game hitting the shelves soon, however. As we previously reported, the new Grand Theft Auto VI will allegedly also feature surfing. Check out soon leaked surfing gameplay footage here.

So…surfing video games making a comeback? Perhaps.
