Described as a contemporary, unique take on the much-beloved genre of private detective stories, Sugar follows an American private investigator called John Sugar, who is investigating the mysterious disappearance of the beloved granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. While trying to determine what happened to the granddaughter, Sugar unearths Siegel's family secrets.

The Oscar-nominated director of City of God, Fernando Meirelles, will direct all eight episodes, with Sam Catlin serving as showrunner and executive producer.

Catlin shares writing credits with Mark Protosevich, Donald Joh and David Rosen.

Three-time Emmy-nominee Adam Arkin will also direct an episode alongside Meirelles.

Other cast members joining Farrell include Massi Furlan, Nate Corddry, Bernardo Badillo, Sydney Chandler, Txunamy Ortiz and Darwin Shaw.

Sugar will be available to stream on AppleTV+ from April 5, 2024.
