The first images from Lee Isaac Chung's Twisters have landed following its trailer debut during the Super Bowl.
Chung's Twisters is an update to the 1996 hit film Twister, which follows a pair of storm chasers who risk their lives in an attempt to test an experimental weather alert system.
Twisters follows former storm chaser Kate Cooper, who now studies storm patterns from the safety of New York City but is lured back into the open plains by a friend to test a groundbreaking new system.
In the field, she crosses paths with charming and reckless social-media superstar Tyler Owens, who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew.
Featuring performances from Daisy Edgar-Jones, Anthony Ramos, Glen Powell, Katy O'Brian, Kiernan Shipka, Maura Tierney, David Corenswet, Sasha Lane, Daryl McCormack, Brandon Perea and Nik Dodani, the epic disaster movie is being called: "an adrenaline-pumping, seat-gripping, big-screen thrill ride".
The trailer has accumulated over 18.8 million views in a little over a week and is expected to hit theaters to much fanfare this summer.
Here are the first images from the film.
We also have a bonus behind-the-scenes shot.
Twisters storms into theaters on July 19, 2024.
