The First Hotel in Space Is Scheduled to Open in 2022

To infinity and beyond!

Your next vacation could take you into outer space. If you've ever dreamed of sleeping beneath the stars or waking up next to the moon, a possible space hotel could make all your fantasies of becoming an IRL Zenon come true.

Beginning in 2022, the Aurora Station will blast off, and you, along with five other friends could be onboard. The project, which was created and announced by Orion Span, has dubbed itself to be the first luxury hotel in space. And for $9.5 million a person you could float around in a space hotel for 12 days, complete with two crew members as your galactic guides.

For those who can afford the ride, the hotel promises to offer a pretty unique experience. The press release announcing the hotel promises that along with being able to fly about the cabin and enjoy the benefits of zero gravity, you'll also be able to peer out at the Earth below, grow your own food, and participate in some virtual reality experiments. Those enjoying their stay in space will reportedly witness 16 sunrises and sunsets, every day. And don't worry, you'll be able to update all your social media feeds as needed because the hotel is equipped with Wi-Fi.

Securing a place aboard Aurora Station will require some training, though. Orion Span explained n their announcement that all aspiring astronauts will go through a three-month "Orion Span Astronaut Certification."

In a statement, Orion Span founder Frank Bunger explained that the whole point of the hotel is to "to make space accessible to all." That's one mission we can definitely get behind.
