Pawable has launched the “first ever” collagen supplement for dogs, aimed at preventing joint, skin, and digestive issues, PetBusinessWorld reports.

Collar-Gen is a powdered supplement, and should be given in the pup’s meal once a day. It contains five kinds of 100% natural hydrolyzed collagen for a range of benefits.

Pawable soft-launched the supplement, the sister product to SoBodyCo, a collagen supplement for humans, over the summer. But now, they’re rolling it out more widely.

Various Health and Body Benefits

Dale Nash, product development manager at Pawable, said: “As a protein, collagen builds cells, and keeps them happy and healthily expressing the correct genetic codes. Mobility is key, and adding this supplement helps prevent osteoarthritis and other types of inflammation which affects dogs so frequently.

“This product prevents dogs from developing arthritis, but also helps to alleviate and soothe existing conditions.

“Collagen really is the protein that brings everything together,” he continued, describing it as a “wonder product”.

Among the fans of Pawable include Anna Webb, a dog expert and the host of the “A Dog’s Life” podcast. She gives the supplement to her dogs Prudence and Mr. Binks herself.

“It is the most abundant protein for us and that is the same for dogs,” she said. “As time goes on, we all lose that, but we can rebuild by taking supplements.”

Pawable makes the supplement in the UK with 100% natural ingredients and recyclable plastic-free packaging. It’s suitable for dogs of all sizes, too.

What Is Collagen?

Collagen is a protein that we can find in our connection tissues. It plays an important role in various cellular processes and gives structural support to tissues too. It’s found in a range of foods, too.

While the body – whether human or canine – produces it naturally, many of us decide to take collagen products too. And now, so can dogs.
