The First Cheese Conveyor Belt Is Now Open In America—And We Tried It

It's a cheese lover's dream come true.

If you’d take a charcuterie board over a traditional dinner plate any day of the week, we have the ideal dining experience for you. A new restaurant concept has just arrived, and it was made for cheese connoisseurs, tapas lovers, and adventurous eaters alike. No matter what you’re in the mood for, you can pull up a seat and prepare to be mesmerized by endless cheese options.

What Is a Charcuterie Conveyor Belt?

Meet the conveyor belt cheese bar, a revolutionary new dining experience that revolves (literally) around cheese. This rotating restaurant concept was first launched in London in 2019, but was likely inspired by the circling sushi bars that took off in Osaka, Japan nearly 50 years ago.

Here’s how it works: diners sit at the bar and watch as plate after plate of artisanal cheese and charcuterie whirl by. There are cheeses of all shapes, styles, and origins, and whatever looks good, you just grab and enjoy (warning: everything looks good). Other plates might include crackers, veggie dishes, breads, or desserts, but all are designed to complement the cheese selections and the occasional wine pairings.

Now for the best news: We no longer have to dream of this cheese fantasy—a carousel of charcuterie has finally made its way to the States.

America’s First Cheese Conveyor Belt

Located inside the L&L Market in Nashville, Tenn., Culture + Co. is the first rotating cheese bar to exist in America. Run by a mother-daughter duo, the "interactive and communal dining space" features an open kitchen and a tasty train of cheeses, appetizers, and dessert offerings that change daily. Wine pairings by the glass make the happy hour-style dining that much happier.

We recently checked out the cheese bar for ourselves, and our expectations were completely exceeded. There were all sorts of tasty, unique bites offered on the moving belt, providing all the enjoyment of grazing on a beautiful charcuterie board, but with more options than one cheese board could ever hold. The bonus? Homemade breadsticks.

The offerings ranged in price from $4 to $10, (designed so that three to five plates would make up an average-sized charcuterie board) so we got out for just $33 total. We’ve made homemade charcuterie boards more expensive than that.

Our favorite bite of the day was one of the most popular offerings: a bruléed Brie with bourbon maple caramel cultured butter, followed by the two-year-aged Shelburne cheddar cheese with housemade apple butter. “We use local and seasonal produce and most of our cheese is from small artisan, domestic farms,” the company shared.

This one-of-a-kind eatery is perfect for a date night spot, a fun activity with friends, or simply a night of indulging in the ultimate "girl dinner." So, make this charcuterie haven a must-stop on your restaurant list for your next trip down South. You'll probably see us there.
