Fireworks set for Pekin's 74th annual 'Honor America' Fourth of July celebration

While a marked increase in the cost of fireworks over the past year has brought home the importance of community sponsorships to help fund Independence Day festivities, it will not keep the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce from hosting Pekin's Honor America Celebration.

“We are genuinely excited to be able to offer this event again to our community with the help of our sponsors,” said Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Amy McCoy. “The Honor America Celebration is a hallmark of summer in the Pekin area.”

The Honor America Celebration will take place July 4 at Pekin Memorial Stadium, with an alternative rain date scheduled for July 5. The fireworks display will begin at dusk. Tickets to the event will be available for purchase from 3:30 to 6 p.m. June 23 and June 30 at Pekin Farmer’s Market, 551 Fourteenth St. Tickets will also be available at the gate of the stadium beginning at 7 p.m. July 4. Admission is $5 for ages 13 and older and $1 for ages 6-12. Admission is free for children under 5, as well as for veterans and active duty military members.

The Chamber accepts business and individual sponsorships annually to fund the display. More information is available pekinchamber.com.
