Firelands Electric holding electrical safety contest for K-5 students

NEW LONDON − As part of National Electrical Safety Month, Firelands Electric is sponsoring its second annual Lunch with a Lineman contest.

Open to children in kindergarten through fifth grade who live in a home receiving its power from Firelands Electric, the contest is intended to help teach younger co-op members about linework and safety equipment.

To enter, students need to submit a completed quiz by June 3. A copy of the quiz is available in the May issue of Ohio Cooperative Living magazine, as well as on the co-op’s website at firelandsec.com. Entries may be completed online, emailed to members@firelandsec.com or mailed to Safety Contest, Firelands Electric Cooperative, P.O. Box 32, New London 44851.

Children who submit a completed quiz will have their names entered into a drawing for the chance to win one of three spots for a behind-the-scenes look at electric utility equipment and lunch with some of Firelands Electric’s lineman. Winners will be featured on the cooperative’s social media outlets and in an upcoming issue of the magazine.
