Waiting for your favorite fast food item to hit menus again can feel never-ending, but for Firehouse Subs’ fans, it really was. In fact, after over eight years, many probably expected this day would never come. But finally, the wait is over.

That’s right, folks—the King's Hawaiian Pork & Slaw Sandwich is back at the beloved sandwich chain.

Originally created as a limited-time collaboration between Firehouse Subs and King’s Hawaiian, the King's Hawaiian Pork & Slaw Sandwich became an instant crowd favorite back in 2015, and after nearly a decade of fans' begging, the deli chain has finally brought it back to menus.

"For more than eight years, guests have been continuously sending us messages asking us to bring back the King's Hawaiian Pork & Slaw," said Yosef Hojchman, Chief Marketing Officer at Firehouse Subs. "We're thrilled to finally deliver!"

The pork and slaw sandwich features tender, slow-smoked pulled pork, melted pepper Jack cheese, and crisp, tangy coleslaw, all piled up on a soft and squishy King’s Hawaiian Bun. Between the sweet, smoky, and tangy flavors, this sandwich offers a Hawaiian-inspired twist on the sub-spot’s usual offerings.

It’s safe to say fans are excited. “8 years has been TOO LONG,” one fan commented on Instagram. “Absolutely the BEST SANDWICH EVER!!” raved another.

But this sandwich doesn’t just promise to taste good, it also promises to do good.

The Firehouse-themed franchise has had a philanthropic component since 2005, supporting first responders and public safety organizations through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. Now, the foundation is turning its efforts toward disaster relief and recovery in response to the devastating fires across Hawaii this summer.

For every purchase of the limited-time-only sandwich, a portion will go to the Hawaii Disaster Relief Fund established by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the goal of providing lifesaving equipment and resources to first responders.

The long-awaited sandwich is available now at participating Firehouse Subs locations across the U.S. And, while we're talking exciting menu returns this fall, be sure to check out what favorites are back at Taco Bell and Little Ceasars as well.
