Each spring, we put a lot of focus on the Easter holiday. It's a joyous occasion that celebrates Jesus' resurrection and the hope we have for eternal life. However, Good Friday is also an important day to reflect on. It's a more somber event as it commemorates the day Jesus died on the cross. There is a heavy weight felt from remembering how Jesus was arrested and brutally crucified to take on the punishment for sin that we deserved. He didn't deserve any of it but loved us enough to do it. There are many Good Friday verses in the Bible that refer to this day of crucifixion and all that Christ had to go through.

Whether you attend a Good Friday service at your church or not, it's a good idea to meditate on the scriptures pertaining to Christ's sacrifice. Although it is somber to think about, it makes the Easter celebration that much more significant. Then, because we have so much to be thankful for, we truly enjoy celebrating and getting together with our families for Easter dinner and all the festivities that go with it.

No matter how terrible this injustice to Jesus was, it was the divine plan from the beginning and didn't just randomly happen to Him. He allowed it. Here are some of the best scriptures to reflect on this Good Friday. Although they are heavy, they lead up to the most joyous occasion: the resurrection.
